Katy Independent School District today announced the appointment of Tanya Heard as the new principal of Morton Ranch Junior High School.
Modeling a commitment to lifelong learning, Katy ISD Board Secretary Dawn Champagne has earned the Master Trustee distinction from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), for completing this year’s Leadership TASB program.
New for the 2025-2026 school year, and in partnership with American-owned water industry leader Inframark, Katy ISD is debuting a new Water Operations Licensing Program. The program offers students in-class learning and hands-on fieldwork to prepare certified program graduates for job opportunities in high demand.
Often heralded for their hard work, dedication and leadership, eight Katy ISD student trainers were named recipients of this year’s Katy ISD Student Athletic Trainer Scholarship, in partnership with Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine.
The Katy ISD Board of Trustees has approved the compensation plan for the 2025 - 2026 school year, reinforcing the district’s commitment to attracting and retaining top-tier educators and staff. The plan reflects funding made available through House Bill 2, signed into law by the Texas Governor during the 89th Legislative Session, as well as additional local investments. Together, these resources will support pay increases for teachers and other staff across the district.
Lisa Kassman, Katy ISD’s executive director of Facilities, Planning and Construction, has been named a Fellow by the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), a prestigious recognition for the most experienced professionals in school design and construction.
